Academic assistant (1961-1964), chief of the legal department with a big foreign trade enterprise trading with plant and equipment (1964-1966), civil servant in the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the GDR with the task of preparing the Inter-national Commercial Contracts Act of the GDR (1966-1970), lecturer in law with the HfÖ and ASR (1970 - 1978), professor for international economic law and civil law with the ASR and Universität Potsdam (1978-1991), since 1991 practising attorney in Berlin, member of the UNIDROIT Working Group for the Preparation of the UNIDROIT Principles (1994) .

Arbitration Experience: 

Activities as an international arbitrator, mainly chairman, but also party-appointed arbitrator in about 250 cases from 1976 on and as a barrister in about 40 arbitration cases from 1964 on. Activities as an arbitrator with the permanent arbitration courts in Belgrade, Berlin, Gdynia, Moscou, Prague, Stockholm, Vienna and under the Rules of Conciliation and Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce and in ad-hoc-arbitration cases according to different rules in different localities. Activities as a barrister at different arbitration localities mainly in Berlin, but including Moscou (there about 10 cases), Prague and Warszawa.

Many of the arbitration awards were published, mainly in the journal “Recht im Aussenhandel”.
