This study documents the increasing utilization of alternative dispute resolution procedures (ADR) in U.S. businesses, the emergence of ADR as a distinct element of general business strategy, and the research findings that ADR practices are positively associated with important performance outcomes.
Since the majority of professional managers receive their university education in colleges of business, we were interested in discovering the extent to which business schools in the U.S. include instruction in ADR in the curriculum, thereby positioning their graduates to utilize ADR tools to more effectively and efficiently resolve disputes and improve stakeholder relationships.
