I. PRESENT ATTITUDE TOWARD ENFORCEMENT OF FOREIGN MONEY JUDGMENTS

A. Describe the receptiveness of your government (including courts) toward enforcement of foreign money judgments.

Enforcement and recognition of money judgments does not have a specific regime, and are dealt with on the basis of the ordinary rules which are applicable to foreign judgments in general. Whenever the legal requirements are met, there is no problem whatsoever in obtaining the purification and the exequatur of the foreign judgment involved through the appropriate procedural steps. This policy is confirmed at a governmental level by the execution of several bilateral treaties on international legal assistance with other European and extra-European countries, on which petitions for the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments are nowadays most often based.

B. Briefly describe recent illustrative attempts, whether successful or unsuccessful, to enforce a foreign money judgment in your country, particularly with regard to enforcement of any judgments from United States courts.
