The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is probably here to stay, says Linda Crawford in her incisive piece that kicks off the following trio of ADA articles. Because the number of persons with disabilities is steadily increasing, and constitutes such a large economic force, business owners will need to evaluate compliance not only in terms of the requirements of the act itself, but in terms of how delay and especially non-compliance can affect their bottom line. When claims do arise, says Crawford, ADR techniques will go a long way toward quick, cost-effective resolution of such disputes and toward preserving vital business relationships.
