Managed health care is here to stay, says Rod Mathews. There remains, however, consumer
skepticism concerning managed care companies' willingness to fairly resolve disputes. This is
reflected in the numbers of government-sponsored and other programs that exist outside of
the managed care companies, Mathews says. To this end, three of the largest medical, legal, and
ADR organizations have joined together to develop models for resolving managed health care
disputes. The following article outlines why such models are needed and shows how they are
to be applied.
