Anders Isgren is a Partner in Baker & McKenzie’s Stockholm office. He practices
arbitration and litigation, and has represented clients in arbitration proceedings
before the SCC, the ICC and ad hoc arbitrations involving general commercial
and construction law disputes.
Jonas Benedictsson is a Partner in Baker & McKenzie’s Stockholm office. His
practice includes various aspects of arbitration, litigation, alternative dispute
resolution and insolvency. He leads Baker & McKenzie’s Dispute Resolution
Practice Group in Stockholm and is a member of the Steering Committee of the
Firm’s International Arbitration Group.
Stefan Bessman is a Partner in Baker & McKenzie’s Stockholm office. He
focuses on dispute resolution in the fields of banking, finance, and reinsurance.
Mr. Bessman has also been involved in several disputes relating to cross-border
investment and joint venture projects.
Magnus Stålmarker is an Associate in Baker & McKenzie’s Stockholm office. As
a member of Stockholm’s Arbitration & Litigation Group, Mr. Stålmarker has
acted as counsel and co-counsel in various domestic and cross-border matters.

A. LEGISLATION, TRENDS AND TENDENCIES
The Swedish Arbitration Act entered into force in 1999 and no
significant legislative changes in relation to arbitration law were
made to it in 2010.
The latest arbitration rules of the Arbitration Institute of the
Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (the “SCC”) entered into
force on 1 January 2010, and included the new provisions
discussed in the 2009 edition of this publication. These
