No vocabulary of ADR is uniformly used by all people or in all nations. The assumed characteristics of a given process for one nation are commonly in error for another. Even the world "alternative" in alternative dispute resolution has different meanings in various places: in Europe mostly meaning alternative to adjudicatie processes and hence not including binding arbitration which is adjudicative, and in the U.S. mostly meaning alternative to court processes and hence including binding arbitration.
