The arbitration movement and large segments of the business and legal community were saddened to learn of the sudden death of Sylvan Gotshal on August 10, at the age of seventy-one. Mr. Gotshal was a former President of the American Arbitration Association and Chairman of its Board, and an active member of the Executive Committee. Indeed, there was never a time in the past twenty years when he did not occupy some leading post, directing the organization in its work among businessmen, lawyers, and other professionals.
