A proposal for consideration of a special set of arbitration rules to govern real estate valuation disputes has grown out of discussions between the American Arbitration Association and the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. The author endorses this concept and notes that appraisers,  by training and experience, are especially well suited to handle such disputes, as well as general real estate and construction industry problems. He considers some general procedural guidelines. Such questions as the composition of a panel, arbitrator qualifications and compensation, and the form of an award are raised.
