On 30 April 2008 Perenco Ecuador Limited, the Claimant in these proceedings, filed a request for arbitration with ICSID against the Republic of Ecuador and Empresa Estatal Petróleos del Ecuador. The parties will be hereinafter referred to as “Perenco”, “Ecuador” and “Petroecuador”.
