The following chapter discusses two insidious forms of discrimination or harassment in the workplace: (1) subtle and unconscious bias and the kind of discrimination which sneaks up on the individual and is hardly noticed by either the victim or the perpetrator because it is too subtle, if not unconscious; and (2) a form of harassment called workplace bullying or mobbing (also called “status-blind harassment” or “psychological harassment.”). The authors maintain that acts of subtle or unconscious discrimination are prevalent and are just as damaging. And because these acts are largely unintentional, they usually do not fall under existing antidiscrimination laws.

The other form of discrimination or harassment is called workplace bullying. Behavior that threatens, intimidates, illuminates, or isolates people at work, or undermines their reputation or job performance.
