In the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, I was attending a training session at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick, N.J., to become a certified mediator in New Jersey’s program.

Before the session began, the sponsors heard that there had been a plane crash at the Twin Towers. A television was wheeled into the reception area so the participants could watch. In horror, we saw the collapse of the World Trade Center.

I suspected it was a terror attack, and I thought that my brother might be inside the buildings. I went back into the meeting room when the program began. There was a hush in the room that evolved into a quiet discussion as to whether we were in the middle of an attack on the country.
