In the early stages of complex, multi-party disputes mediation the most immediate goal is often to bring order out of chaos. In such instances, what the parties need in the way of third-party involvement is an "orchestrator" rather than a "dealmaker," a dispute manager rather than a settlement broker. Developing and implementing a management strategy prior to the mediation conference can significantly enhance the parties' chances of settlement.
