Launching its Large, Complex Case Program was a daunting task for the AAA. As the Association plowed ahead, it spared little in its efforts to instill confidence in the program in potential users, and went to great lengths to ensure that its roster of neutrals was both well trained and skilled. The result, says the author, is that the LCCP has been—and continues to be—an extraordinary success. How the AAA maintains the level of excellence of this cutting edge program is the focus of this article.

The AAA’s Large, Complex Case Program (LCCP) was launched in February 1993 and since then, has enjoyed meteoric success in resolving cases with claims over a million dollars. As of year-end 1995, for example, there had been 1,110 cases filed under the LCCP. The total value of all claims was in excess of $7 billion.
