I. Introduction
The U. S. Supreme Court arbitration ruling in Cortez Byrd Chips, Inc., v. Bill Harbert Construction Co. 529 U.S. 193 (2000) may cause lawyers to rewrite their future arbitration agreements to specify the venue for court actions to confirm, vacate or modify an arbitration award as the Court held that the Federal Arbitration Act’s venue provisions permit parties to bring a motion to vacate or modify an award either in the district where the award was made or in any district proper under the general venue statute.
