In recent years, the role of the tri bunal in international arbitration has become progressively more active. Noting that this trend has been supported by leading international arbitral agencies, the author explores ways in which a tribunal can effectively manage a complex arbitration. Applying the concept of management by objective, the author gives advice on how to handle the prehearing conference, testimony by expert witnesses, the hearing itself, and other key elements of the process.
