Over the past few years, third country international arbitration in Austria has become an important option for disputing parties. Both the state of the law of arbitration and the available administrative facilities have made Austria, and especially Vienna, an attractive venue for arbitrating trade disputes.

The author discusses the rules and services of the Arbitral Centre of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, informing parties about what to expect should they choose to arbitrate in Austria. The article also examines trade agreements that designate Vienna as the site for arbitrations between U.S. companies and businesses in Eastern bloc countries.
