In their compact but nevertheless comprehensive book, Arbitration in South Africa Law and Practice ("Arbitration in South Africa"), David Butler and Eyvind Finsen have, as stated in the preface, sought to "fill the need for a guidebook for the working arbitrator...." They furthermore have sought to "assist legal practitioners to appreciate how arbitration differs from litigation, and how its potential may be realised to achieve the quick and cost-effective resolution of disputes."
