I. INTRODUCTION

This paper advocates for the culturalization of multiparty arbitration. The concept of culturalization refers to an increased focus on the influences of culture (legal, societal, religious, and racial) on international multiparty arbitration. The current focus in multiparty arbitration is mainly on substance and procedure. We submit that a broader approach, in this case culture, could prove beneficial for international arbitration and its multiparty feature.

In the international realm, multiparty arbitration is a mechanism that simultaneously resolves disputes between three or more international parties. Due to differences between the parties and the layered issues of the cases, multiparty arbitration presents numerous complications that have been dealt with in various ways. For instance, arbitral institutions have drafted and revised rules on the subject, and academic literature regarding multiparty arbitration is very extensive. As stated, most of the attention paid to the complexities of multiparty arbitration deals primarily with its substance and procedure. Such focus has led to significant changes in these areas, but room for improvement remains.
