Some years ago, I was dealing with a domain name dispute concerning a burlesque night club in a “colourful” part of London.

The decision involved two sisters who own much of London’s Soho and the woman who ran the club as a tenant. London’s West End is historically a number of parishes glued together and then carved up by arterial roads. This creates a strange and attractive village feeling in the heart of a major city. People know each other and have often lived or worked alongside each other for generations.

While working on the case, I became convinced that the domain name dispute was part of a bigger story and dispute concerning the club’s closure. More recently, as part of the club’s re opening by the sisters, there have been disagreements with the neighbors about its 3:30 a.m. license.
