The New York Convention was concluded sixty years ago. Currently, 157 States adhere to this international treaty. It has been referred to as the most successful legal instrument in the history of international commercial exchanges. As Professor Paulsson quipped, any person without legal training could render an award which has greater international effect than decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court simply because this person was appointed as a sole arbitrator.  Sixty years of practice under the Convention have naturally spurred various questions.
