INTERNATIONAL — UN CONVENTION — 9 USC 201-208 — CONFIRMATION OF AWARD — CONSENT TO ENTRY OF JUDGMENT CLAUSE

The court confirmed a foreign arbitral award under 9 USC 201-208 even though the parties had failed to provide in their agreement that a judgment of the court shall be entered upon the award as required by 9 USC 9. Pursuant to the arbitration clause in an agreement between petitioner Audi, a German corporation, and respondent Overseas, a Michigan corporation, for the importation and sale of Audi automobiles in the United Sates, Audi sought arbitration in Zurich, Switzerland, of a dispute with Overseas arising out of the contract. Overseas had earlier sought to restrain the arbitration, but a verdict had been entered in favor of Audi and other defendants.
