The 1982 Montreal Conference of the International Law Association explored the concept of "delocalized" arbitration through a report of the British Branch Committee on the Enforcement of International Arbitral Awards. That report raised questions about whether the awards resulting from delocalized arbitrations are enforceable under the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards and whether alternative forms of an international convention are necessary to provide a mechanism for the enforcement of such awards.

Following are the findings on this interesting aspect of international commercial arbitration by a subcommittee of the Law Committee of the American Arbitration Association.
