The surprising thing about Dr. Mills's piece is not its innovation, but the fact that it still appears to be innovative.  Teleconferencing, or computer conferencing as it is sometimes called, will be as common by 1990 as the telephone call is today. The principal reason why this is not already so is just another manifestation of a generation gap—in this case the gap between the TV and the Atari generation. When the teenagers of the '80s (who play Packman as ardently as those of the '70s looked at Sesame Street) become the responsible negotiators, then articles on teleconferencing will be on the fine points of using it, not on whether "there is a real potential" for its use.
