After exploring the results of a large survey of advocates familiar with AAA arbitration, the author states that settlements in large, complex arbitrations are fair but they may take more time or cost more money than necessary. The article suggests that certain rule changes in the handling of large, complex arbitration cases may be desirable. The survey was conducted by the Joint Task Force on Complex AAA Arbitrations under the auspices of the AAA, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the New York County Lawyer's Associations.
